Admission to UC Berkeley as a transfer student
UC Berkeley accepts applications for the fall semester only. Transfer admission is limited to those students who have completed a minimum of 60 UC-transferable semester units, as well as appropriate coursework. To assist you in the development of your community college education plan, be sure to go to www.assist.org.

Units taken at community colleges and other four year institutions may transfer to Berkeley. In order to determine which units will transfer:

*Community college students can receive assistance with their transcripts from their community college counselors or online at: www.assist.org. The website indicates which units are transferable, general education and major requirements, and how they apply to the California State University or University of California systems.

The Starting Point Mentorship Program provides community college students with UC Berkeley student mentors who are enrolled in the Starting Point Mentorship course. The program is specifically designed to encourage under-served students and welcomes all to explore their academic potential and prepare for transfer to UC Berkeley. Mentors provide mentees with motivation, information, and access to resources. They also meet regularly throughout the semester to discuss goald, services, opportunities, and resources.

Four-year and Out-of-state students
Students from four-year schools can contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, http://admissions.berkeley.edu or call (510) 642-3175. Admissions Officers are available between May 1 and December 1 to review transcripts for students from other four year colleges only.

You may apply or download a copy of the application at: http://www.ucop.edu/pathways/appctr.html .

The deadline for filing, whether electronically or by mail, is November 30. Transfer admission decisions are available on April 30. Students can check online on that day via the My Berkeley Application web page.

The Environmental Leadership Pathway (ELP) is a year-long Community College Transfer program which provides academic enrichment, field and laboratory research experience, and teaching experience for 25 Bay area underrepresented and first-in-the-family community college students. The ultimate goal of ELP is to facilitate transition to 4-year baccalaureate programs in science disciplines. Housed in the College of Natural Resources, ELP is supported by the National Science Foundation and the Don Dahlsten Outreach Fund.

Advice to Transfer Students

Plan early and make use of resources such as your community college counselor, www.assist.org, and UC representatives who may visit your school.

Don't give up your dreamif you have one bad semester or year. Strive to learn from circumstances that impacted your academic studies. Remain motivated and determined to use your talents and strengths to the best of your ability.

Create a network of counselors and faculty who can provide guidance and support as you make progress and excel at the community college and who encourage you to apply to UC Berkeley or other four year educational institutions.
